The New Zealand Curriculum guides what and how students learn in our school. It aims to develop confident, connected, and lifelong learners.
Students learn across eight key areas, including English, Mathematics, Science, the Arts, and more. Teaching often connects these subjects to real-life contexts to make learning meaningful.
Alongside knowledge, students build important skills (key competencies) such as thinking, relating to others, managing themselves, and participating in their community.
Each school designs its own local curriculum based on this framework, reflecting its community, culture, and environment, while supporting every child to succeed.
The Parent Portal is a collection of guidance and resources for parents, families and carers. This year-by-year learning guide covers the New Zealand Curriculum and covers Years 1 to 8.
The guide is structured by year level. Choose your child's level and find ways to understand what they do at school, and how you can support them to achieve what they need to this year.
